Got a sore throat? Tabasco is the answer! October 20, 2007

Strepsils

“I don’t have a remedy to cure allergies, but I do have one for a sore throat. It won’t cure the sore throat. but it will cause it to not hurt. It will also take away the tickle in one’s throat. when an allergy attacks. It is a teaspoon of Tabasco Sauce, taken maybe 3 to 4 times a day. Most people can’t handle it, and so you would have to built up the dosage, but I had a chiropractor recommend it to me, and I have never suffered the pain of a sore throat since, not even when I had strep throat.”

going back to pre-ramadan routine. October 18, 2007

my day is messed up at the moment. I woke up early, I went out, finished all the work and everything that needed to be finished and went back to sleep. I didn’t have lunch, I didn’t have breakfast. I just went back to sleep and just woke up. I feel very heavy headed and can really use a caffeine pill.

Every year I struggle to go back to the pre ramadan routine. and its especially hard for me to find the balance all over again.

Can a better understanding lead to divorce? October 14, 2007

I was sitting with mom and dad watching tv. they were watching a program so stupid, I think it can lower you IQ! the host was a rookie, the program has the word cheap plastered all over it.

anyway, thats not my point. my point is, the host was talking about divorce and its increasing rates during the last few years. he said the main reason for getting a divorce is the misunderstandings that happens after the marriage. he said that when the husband and wife are in the 2nd stage of marriage, where they both get to know a lot more about each others and experience life as a couple, thats when the misunderstandings happens. (he used the word soo2 tafahom).

I got into a heated debate with my father when I said “I think he’s 100% wrong” and “he shouldn’t be on tv preaching this crap”.

I’m not disagreeing with the fact that a couple can have some misunderstandings, my objections here are only for the usage of the words soo2 tafahom.

soo2 tafahom or misunderstanding can NOT lead to divorce! misunderstandings leads to fights and arguments. thats about it. but divorce happens because of the BETTER understanding both the husband and wife have for each other! now that they know their partners true colors, their annoying habits and their new found flaws. when the picture perfect fades and reality comes crashing down on them and things become more clearer. thats when divorces happens!

divorce is the result of the new found better-understandment. while soo2 itafahom actually happened before the marriage.

(this post was supposed to be posted the day before yesterday :D I’m not sure why I wrote it and kept it as a draft)

today (after the serious pigging, tea marathon and some stupid tv shows that accompanies every fast-breaking) the phones started to ring non stop. everyone and their mama’s wanted to be the first to break the news! and every call started with (tara il3eed bachir! galaw bil tv!). and I’m always like yeah so I’ve heard.

I’m not excited for the Eid. I miss Ramadan already! :( I love Ramadan! sigh….

anyway, I was sitting there doing nothing, and my mom comes in..

Her: they say the streets are going to be packed today.
Me: yeah, I know…
Her: if you wanna go cut your hair, you better go now.
Me: I’m not going to the barber. I had a hair cut less than 10 days ago.
Her: what do you mean you’re not cutting your hair! tomorrow’s eid!
Me: does my hair look like it can handle another hair cut!??
Her: but….. its…. eid!
Me: fine. I’m gonna call the barber and see if I can get an appointment.

I went and got a hair cut. actually I was there just to get a nice beard shave and some fixin’, no major hair cuttin’ occurred.

I miss Ramadan… and 3eidkom mbarak.

why don’t the commenters reply to my replies to theirs? err.. I mean, why when someone writes a comment to one of my posts and I reply with a question or something, they don’t reply back? I mean.. why is this normal in the blogging world! (I’m guilty of doing it :D ) its very common in the blogging world to the point of maskhara! lol

One lousy dream. October 7, 2007

I was back in high school, in the principal office, he was angry at me for some reason and he wouldn’t allow me to sit down. I was wearing dishdasha and qitra. I wasn’t young, not high-school young that is. and I remember graduating from this school. why am I back!??

and the next thing, my favorite teacher comes in, he took one glance at me and frowned and went to the principal. they sat next to each other in a very funny cartoonish way and started whispering! it was funny as hell now that I remember the scene, but I was nervous in the dream! I didn’t enjoy any bit of it.

then the verdict came in. I am there in my old high school, because apparently there was a mistake done.. bla bla bla.. I didn’t finish all the courses and didn’t satisfy all the requirements! there is this one course that I should’ve taken but I haven’t! and now I should stay in this school for more than a year to pass this particular course.

you can imagine the amount of te3esser (Crankiness) when I woke up this morning.

Self-deprecating sense of humor. October 6, 2007

sometimes I enjoy cracking jokes at myself. it makes me laugh and makes my friends laugh too. and I won’t feel guilty by the end of my joke-cracking session, coz I was doing it to myself!

but people misunderstand me sometimes.. and I hate it when it happens, especially people whom I met for the few first times… they don’t know me 100% and they don’t know why am I making fun of myself or my past incidents. thankGod it only happened once, when a guy thought I was allowing others to join me in my “lets make fun of myself tirade”. I hate sticking up for myself in situations like this one because it means I’ve got to be strict, mean and CLEAR! and these things lead to a big harsh preaching from my side.

I think people should be able to take themselves less seriously sometimes. malada3y 3oqad, laugh a little. I also think that it takes secure and confident people to have a self-deprecating sense of humor. :P
